How Audi Tuners Have Been Compared

We've ranked Audi tuners solely based on their published maximum power output. Even though peak power output is not a good indicator of actual real-world driving performance, we've decided to use it because it is the value most often quoted by Audi tuners.

However, maximum torque and the rpm at which it becomes available have a significant impact on everyday driveability. All power and torque values are obtained from manufacturers' published material, and if a range of power or torque values are published, we've used the highest value in the range. Where tuning is available for multiple octane ratings, we've quoted the 93 AKI (98 RON) values.

Because tuners derive these values based on a large number of parameters, use different dynamometers and conduct their tests in different climatic conditions, these numbers are easily manipulated and cannot represent a true apples-to-apples comparison of Audi tuning.

However, in the absence of a standards-based tuner reporting protocol, we've collated all published power and torque values and presented them here, just as any Audi owner would do when comparing peak power and torque values.
