Brembo Brake Calipers

Brembo has introduced a new line of front GT kits using 4-piston and 6-piston aluminium monobloc calipers for select Audi models.
Brembo uses several hundred calipers, piston, and disc combinations to achieve maximum performance and optimum brake balance. Calipers are designed with differential piston bore sizes for even pad wear and OEM approved dust boots to protect the pressure seals and fluid.
The monobloc calipers used in this kit come in a choice of red, black, silver and yellow. Like Brembo's motorsports calipers, they are machined around each piston on the caliper to remove every ounce of excess material for weight savings.
With this upgraded brake system the mounting is much more rigid and the stiffness of the caliper itself is greatly increased. This manifests itself in enhanced braking performance, pedal feel, and pad wear.
Each Brembo system is delivered with pre-loaded calipers. Shown below are the 6-pot version calipers in yellow.

Brembo Brake Pads
Brake pads are selected on a vehicle-specific basis to ensure high performance. The pads that come in this kit are the Ferodo FM1000 compound. The friction material is a proprietary compound developed specifically for the Brembo high performance programs.
It is capable of sustaining a high friction coefficient level over a wide temperature range and is designed for use in high performance on-road applications. This compound responds very favorably to aggressive use. The material actually improves after it has been through an initial high temperature heat cycle.
Different compounds are available upon request.
Brembo 2-Piece Floating Rotors

Larger and more sophisticated discs are used in the 2-piece rotor assemblies in order to increase the system fading resistance. There are several reasons that a two-piece floating disc assembly is of benefit.
First, using an aluminum bell or hat (shown above) for the hub section of the disc saves a great deal of weight. Since this is both rotating and unsprung, it benefits the acceleration, braking, and handling of the vehicle.
The floating disc mounting system also reduces heat-related stress and large temperature changes that a brake disc experiences. The mounting system is designed to allow a specific amount of float in both radial and axial directions.
Brembo has engineered special springs (shown above) that are used on every other fastener in order to slightly preload the assembly. This has been done to prevent excessive noise from the system during street use.
With the full floating system, the disc is free to grow relative to the bell, and can remain straight and true. The ability to float is provided by the bobbin whose main functions are to join the rotor to the bell and transmit the braking torque from the rotor to the bell. As thermal stress builds up the bushing prevents disc warping by allowing the rotor to expand radially.
Brembo Brake Lines
Goodridge Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines are included in this kit. Goodridge is the only brake hose system approved for use in every country of the world.

Audi Owner's View
The Brembo 4-pot Audi brake kit provides a good mix of stopping power, braking performance and weight savings for Audi owners keen on improving stopping distances, pedal feel and fade resistance. With the Brembo brand, you'll find yourself having the confidence to push your Audi just that little bit harder and explore the limits of what the car can really do.
We love its progressive feel, quietness and overall build quality. For track use and really aggressive driving, you may want to consider the more heavy duty 6-piston Brembo brakes, which are unmatched for quality, stopping power and durability.
